Cases Malaysia

There are many cases of pollution related to water environment but to date there has not been serious incidence of extreme cases. This could be due to water intakes point and treatment plants are mostly located n the upstream stretches of rivers.

Malaysia has a mechanism when there is an emergency including that of possible water contamination; a task force for disaster would be set up and works towards mitigating the impacts of the problems.

An example of such an event was an event of chemical spillage during a road accident that involved a tanker. Due to the location of the incident that was close to the water source, a task force was quickly mobilised to mitigate the problem.
