Summary
The Land of Karo is a hilly area which is lack of water, but the land is fertile. Water is usually situated in a deep gorge that makes it difficult to utilize for consumption and bath. Father B. Tarigan together with the Batak Church Protestant Karo asked the inhabitants to develop proper technology for the provision of fresh water and electricity. The work started with the building of power plant (water turbine) that was built through communal work. Afterwards, water installation using ram hydraulic technology followed. This program flourished until covering 37 villages on the Land of Karo, 7 villages in Deliserdang, 4 villages in Dairi, and 2 villages in langkat. On top of that, the institution also provides rolling capital and develops village unit cooperatives to increase the income of the people.
