Case 16: Conservation of Traditional Forest in Bali
Type of Activity Conservation of Traditional Forest
Organization Group of Tri Kayangan Traditional Village
Area Tabanan, Bali

Summary

Conservation of natural environment cannot be separated from the norm of the local wisdom of this traditional group. With the concept of harmony of “Tri Hita Karana” each Hindu follower always conserves nature by observing all provisions of environment management inherited generation by generation. Pura Luhur Mekori forest, as vast as 10 ha that is well conserved is the proof of influence of Krama tradition against natural conservation besides preserving natural bio-diversity and creating more water springs. The existence of the forest is important to the continuation of the habitat of monkeys and water resources for agricultural water in the surrounding areas.
