3.7. Salt pans

In Kampot province, salt pans expanded in 1998 which caused the destruction of mangrove areas, biodiversity loss, disrupted coastal ecosystems and reduced subsistence benefits for local communities. Addition, salt pan expansion also reduces the natural value of coastal areas through destruction of the natural coast.
