The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is given the mission to manage the agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors by the Royal Government of Cambodia with the following function and roles:

• developing policies and development programmes in the agriculture sector,which aimes at improving people’s living standards;
• participating in the preparation of land reform and utilisation policies in cooperation with inter-ministries and local authority;
• coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of policies and activities for agricultural development;
• monitoring and managing natural resources under agricultural sector, and facilitating activities of utilisation of these resources to meet domestic demands with respect to the stability of ecology system;
• enacting legislation and regulations on the management, maintaining and protecting the natural resources under agricultural sector;
• evaluating and developing human resources responding the demand in agricultural sector;
• providing necessary support and advice to the farmers and key stakeholders on technologies to improve production and increase productivity;
• conducting research, study and enhancement of agricultural technology, science and economics for all sub-sectors;
• providing advice on agricultural land development, soil quality improvement and appropriate utilisation of land, seeds, breeds, fertiliser, chemicals to the conditions of geography and regional climate and this leads to ensure the increase of high yield and maintain the balance of natural environment
• coordinating and cooperating with internal and external organisations, non-governmental organisations for the development of agriculture sector.
